Northwestern had five home runs in its victory over a Notre Dame team that had won 17 of its previous 18 games. Sophomore first baseman Wes Robinson (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephens) led the attack with three-run home runs in sixth and eighth innings. Northwestern had trailed 2-1 in a pitchers' duel before opening up for 11 runs on nine hits in the sixth inning. Fifteen men came to bat for the Wildcats in the inning, including 10 straight who scored.
