36th Midlands Championships to Begin Tuesday

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The 36th annual Midlands Wrestling Championships are set to begin Tuesday morning, December 29, at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Another all-american field is scheduled to compete. Six of the top 10 teams in the nation will be participating, led by No. 3 Iowa, No. 7 Illinois and No. 10 Northwestern. Among the individual headliners this year are Chicagoland native and Iowa alumnus Joe Williams, Northwestern All-Americans Sam Neider, Mark Bybee and Scott Schatzman and Illinois' Karl Roesler and Carl Perry.

The Tuesday morning session begins at 9:30 a.m. with the evening session beginning at 7:30 p.m. Action resumes Wednesday at noon with the finals beginning at 7 p.m.

All-session passes are available for $35 with single-session passes also available. Tickets can be purchased through the Northwestern ticket office by calling (847) 491-CATS or at the Welsh-Ryan Arena box office.
