Senior Doug Bohaboy (Palo Alto, Calif.), Northwestern's top singles player, improved to 7-1 in the Big Ten with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Indiana's Ian Arons Sunday afternoon. Overall, the Wildcats dropped their second 5-2 dual match of the weekend, this time to Indiana (12-8, 4-4 Big Ten). Bohaboy has won eight of his last nine singles matches and six-straight in the conference.
The Wildcats' other point came from sophomore Derrick Nguyen (Darnestown, Md.) at the No. 2 singles spot (6-3, 6-0).
Bohaboy and junior Martin Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden) were also 8-6 winners at the No. 1 doubles position. It was their fourth-straight win together as they improved to 16-10 on the season.
The Hoosiers clinched the victory when freshman Rahman Smiley defeated junior Brian Moss (Bellevue, Wash.) at the No. 6 singles spot. Moss was inserted into the lineup to fill in for an injured Joost Hol, who is still nursing a sprained right ankle.
The Wildcats drop to 9-9 overall, 4-4 in the Big Ten and travel to Michigan State and Michigan next weekend for their final two regular season matches.
