23rd-Ranked Women's Tennis Wins at Indiana

Northwestern's women's tennis team remained in first place in the Big Ten after a 4-3 victory at Indiana on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats (13-4 overall, 7-1 Big Ten) have won seven of their last eight dual matches and six-straight.
Sophomore Shannon Duffy (Plano, Texas) defeated IU's Kelly Blanch (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) at No. 2 singles and joined forces with junior Jennifer Lutgert (Evergreen, Colo.) at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 victory to remain unbeaten in the Big Ten (8-0) at both singles and doubles.
Lutgert also continued her tear, registering her eighth-straight victory at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 triumph. She has a career-best singles record of 25-5 overall this season. The 25 wins is the most of any Wildcat this season.
Also contributing to today's victory was sophomore Colleen Cheng (Hillsborough, Calif.) at No. 4 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Katherine Nasser (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Laura Guignon (St. Louis, Mo.). The duo, ranked No. 27 in the country, has now won 10 of their last 11 doubles matches, including six-straight. The Hoosiers fell to 9-12 on the season, 4-4 in the Big Ten.
Northwestern will next be in action on Sat., April 24, versus Michigan State at 10 a.m. at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center in Evanston.
