EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern University Recreation and Athletics Department is prepared to celebrate its second annual ?Women in Sport Weekend,? beginning this Friday (Oct. 22) and continuing through Sunday (Oct. 24).

The weekend will be highlighted by home contests for the field hockey, women?s soccer and women?s volleyball teams. Friday provides a Wildcat tripleheader, as the soccer teams kicks off with Michigan State at 2:30 p.m. and the field hockey team faces off with Michigan at 4 p.m. on Lakeside Field. At 7 p.m., the volleyball team hosts Purdue in Welsh-Ryan Arena.

On Saturday, the volleyball team is back in action against Wisconsin, beginning at 7 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena. Sunday, the field hockey team entertains Michigan State at noon on Lakeside Field.

Single-game tickets are normally $5 for soccer and volleyball, while field hockey is free. However, for this special weekend, people can purchase a weekend pass that will get them into all contests for just $5 and also allow them to receive a second chicken sandwich at half-price with the purchase of the same at Hecky?s Barbecue in Evanston. NU students will have free admission to all of the weekend events, while members of the Wildcat Kids? Club get into all games free with their membership card.

Several promotions will also highlight the weekend. At every contest, the first 50 fans will receive an adidas water bottle, Pepsi-Cola and Hecky?s will sponsor numerous prizes during the games, and after each contest the Wildcat players will be available for autograph sessions.
