Sannie van Dijck

Sannie Van Dijck was recognized as an All-Big Ten recipient each of the last three years of her Northwestern career. She was honored as the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as both a sophomore and a senior (1986, 1988) and was also named the Big Ten Most Valuable Player her sophomore year when she led the team with 20 goals.
An Academic All-Big Ten honoree as a senior, she led NU to NCAA tournament appearances all four years with the team winning the Big Ten championship in 1988. Her total of 139 career points stood as the Northwestern record until it was recently broken by Chelsea Armstrong. Her 37 career assists currently rank third in school history, while her 51 goals rank fourth.
Northwestern Field Hockey currently presents an annual award in her name to honor “the individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty on and off the field; a great teammate who puts forth exceptional effort in practice, lifting, running, team activities and community service.”
