McKeown Adds Preston Reid to Coaching Staff

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball head coach Joe McKeown announced the addition of Preston Reid to the Wildcats' staff as an assistant coach Tuesday.
"We are excited to name Preston Reid an assistant coach at Northwestern," said McKeown. "His experiences with the Indiana Pacers and Fever as well as his time at Florida State are invaluable. I was really impressed with the impact he had during his six years at Akron. He is a tireless recruiter and loves to teach the game."
Reid coached at Akron for the past six seasons, spending two years as a graduate assistant before moving up to assistant coach in 2014. He helped lead the Zips to the MAC Tournament semifinals in 2016 and mentored Akron senior Sina King in her campaign for Mid-American Conference MVP and All-America Honorable Mention in 2015. During his time as an assistant, Reid's Zips made two appearances in the WNIT tournament.
"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity Coach McKeown has given me to coach and mentor outstanding student-athletes," said Reid. "Northwestern is a world-class institution and is one of the top conferences in the country. I cannot wait to hit the ground running."
Prior to his coaching career, Reid gained experience in video coordination and film breakdown working with Florida State, the NBA's Indiana Pacers, and the WNBA's Indiana Fever.
Reid received his bachelor's degree in English Education from Ball State in 2011, where he also worked as a practice player, head manager, and video coordinator for the basketball team. He earned a master's degree in 2014 in sport science and coaching from Akron.
