EVANSTON, Ill. – Chicago's Big Ten Team returns home Sunday to take on Illinois in the penultimate home game at historic Beardsley Gym. Tip is set for 2 p.m. CT.
The contest will be NU's #Play4Kay "Pink Game." The 'Cats will wear pink uniforms for the occasion. BTN Plus on BTN2Go will televise and WNUR will have the call for the game.
The Wildcats are coming off a tight 67-59 loss at Penn State on Wednesday. Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah continued her torrid play of late, notching her 15th double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The junior forward is now tied for second on the program's single-season rebound list with 305, trailing only Nia Coffey (2015-2016) by 39 with at least four games remaining. Her 11.3 rebounds per game ranks second in the Big Ten.
Lindsey Pulliam added 11 points in that contest, her sixth straight game scoring double figures. Her 14.6 points per game leads the team and continues to pace all Big Ten first-year players. Abi Scheid played the full 40 minutes and posted 10 points, her 21st game this season scoring 10-plus points.
Northwestern is looking to go 2-0 against Illinois this season, as the 'Cats defeated the Illini, 74-59, in Champaign on December 31. Four Wildcats finished in double-figures in scoring, led by Scheid's 20. The Wildcats have won the last five in the series and six of the past seven, dating back to 2013.
