2017-18 Northwestern Nonconference Schedule

EVANSTON, Ill. --
Eight home games at Allstate Arena highlight the 2017-18 nonconference schedule for the Northwestern men's basketball team announced Thursday (Aug. 3).

Additionally, the Wildcats will play a trio of true road games at major conference schools as well as participating in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

NU's 2017-18 home slate is being played at Allstate Arena in Rosemont due to the complete renovation of Welsh-Ryan Arena that began immediately following the 2016-17 campaign.

Coming off a 2017 NCAA Tournament appearance and an opening-round victory over Vanderbilt, Northwestern is set to open its season Nov. 10 when it hosts Loyola (Md.). The contest starts a stretch of three home games over a six-day span.

Three days after the opener, the 'Cats face a Saint Peter's squad that won 23 games a year ago, including claiming the CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) title. The Peacocks are one of as many as six teams that NU will face in nonconference play that earned a 2017 final Ken Pomeroy rating of 104 or better.

Northwestern will participate in the Gavitt Tipoff Games for the second straight year as they host BIG EAST foe Creighton on Nov. 15. The Bluejays earned a top-10 national ranking during the 2016-17 season en route to winning 25 games and earning an NCAA tournament appearance.

Following the season-opening homestand, the Wildcats travel to Connecticut for the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament where they'll open up against La Salle on Nov. 18. The field also includes Texas Tech and Boston College with Saturday's winners and losers squaring off the following day.

Northwestern returns to Allstate Arena to face Sacred Heart Nov. 24 before heading back on the road to take on Georgia Tech in Atlanta on Nov. 28 as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Yellow Jackets advanced to last year's final of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).

Following two Big Ten Conference games in early December, the Wildcats return to non-league play following finals as they host Chicago State Dec. 11. Another tough challenge awaits NU on Dec. 14 as Valparaiso, coming off earning a share of the Horizon League regular-season title last season, makes the trip to Rosemont.

The stretch against local foes continues two days later as Northwestern faces DePaul at the brand-new Wintrust Arena in Chicago prior to the 'Cats hosting Lewis Dec. 19.

One more road trip looms on Dec. 22 when NU opens a home-and-home series with traditional Big 12 power Oklahoma in Norman. The nonconference slate concludes Dec. 30 when the Wildcats play host to Brown.

Under the direction of Sullivan-Ubben head men's basketball coach Chris Collins, Northwestern returns four starters and its top five scorers from last year's team that posted a school-record 24 victories.

Season tickets for the 2017-18 Northwestern men's basketball season will be on sale soon. Please check NUsports.com and the Northwestern men's basketball social media accounts for further updates.
