Jamison, Rohde Named Team Captains

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern senior Lydia Rohde and junior Amber Jamison have been named team captains for the 2017-18 season, head coach Joe McKeown announced Friday.
"We are really excited to have Lydia and Amber as our team captains," McKeown said. "They have earned the respect of their teammates and the coaching staff because of their leadership ability. Both are great role models who lead by example and have embraced the student-athlete concept that makes Northwestern such a special place."
Rohde is a former walk-on now turned senior captain and the second-leading returning scorer on this year's team. She is one of the best free throw shooters in the conference with a career average of 88 percent from the line. Rohde is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
"I am honored to represent our team and our program," Rohde said. "We have an amazing group of young women here, and I am excited about what this season has in store."
Jamison broke onto the scene during Big Ten play last season with a five-game stretch of double figure points, including a career-high 22 against Michigan State on Jan. 17. She is the team's career leading scorer after just two seasons and is a career 42 percent shooter from the field.
"I am honored to be selected captain by my teammates and coaches," Jamison said. "I look forward to leading this team to the best of my ability, and I am excited for what is to come this season."
Chicago's Big Ten Team opens the 2017-18 season at Chicago State tonight at 7 p.m.
