EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University will host the 2015 Big Ten Women's & Men's Cross Country Championships on Sunday, November 1, at the Sydney R. Marovitz Golf Course on Chicago's north side. The event will feature the best runners from 12 men's programs and 14 women's teams.

"The Big Ten Cross Country Championships are undoubtedly one of the premiere events in college cross country," said Wildcats first-year head coach 'A Havahla Haynes. "The fact that Northwestern Cross Country is able to host for the first time in decades is significant on many levels. It is an ideal way to kick-off the new vision for the program and its pursuit of excellence."

Both the men's 8K and women's 6K courses will start and end just north of the clubhouse and Clock Tower Cafe. Parking will be available for fans along W. Montrose Dr. and N. Simonds Dr., located north of the course, and Recreation Dr., located west of the course. The men's race will begin at 10:45 a.m. CT with the women's race following at 11:45 a.m. CT. The awards presentation is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT and will be open to the public.

"The Marovitz Golf Course not only features a picturesque setting between bustling city streets and Lake Michigan, it boasts lakeshore paths used every day by the Chicago running community. The location is a tremendous opportunity to bring Northwestern Cross Country alumni together, as well as the alumni communities of our Big Ten peers."

Nestled between Lake Shore Drive and the shores of Lake Michigan, Sydney Marovitz Golf Couse offers unparalleled views of the lake, Montrose Harbor and the Chicago skyline. The course's mature trees, undulating landscape and waterfront location will challenge some of the nation's best collegiate distance runners.

Current information leading up to the event will be available at NUSports.com. Media credential requests should be sent to Paul Kennedy (pkennedy@northwestern.edu).

Northwestern cross country's fall season continues this weekend with the team at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.
