Trio of #B1GCats Named 2015-16 Big Ten Golfers to Watch

EVANSTON, Ill. – Three Wildcats have been named to the 2015-16 Big Ten Golfers to Watch list, the conference announced today. Sophomore Dylan Wu, senior Josh Jamieson, and redshirt senior Andrew Whalen represented Northwestern on the list.
Wu led Northwestern with a 72.21 scoring average as a freshman and picked up his first collegiate win in just his fourth-career event at UCLA's Gifford Collegiate in the fall. He had six top-20 finishes and three top-10s, including a fifth-place result at the NCAA New Haven Regional after gaining entrance as an individual alternate just three days before the event started. He was one stroke shy of a potential berth at the NCAA National Championships with that performance.
Jamieson competed in all of NU's tournaments this season, ranking second on the team behind Wu with a 72.93 scoring average. He led the Wildcats in four tourneys, racking up four top-20 finishes and two top-10s with 12 rounds at par or better. Outside of collegiate competition, Jamieson advanced through local U.S. Open qualifying this past summer.
Whalen, a redshirt senior, returns to action after missing the 2014-15 season. Whalen finished the 2013-14 year ranked second for the Wildcats in full-season stroke average at 74.13, carding nine rounds at par or better. In the summer of 2014, he shot a final-round 3-under 67 at the Pacific Coast Amateur Championship to earn a top-25 finish.
Northwestern tees off its 2015-16 season on Sept. 18 at the Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill, before hosting the Windon Memorial on Sept. 27-28, at the Lake Shore Country Club.
